Police look for man suspected of burning woman to death

POMONA, Calif. (AP) — Police are searching for a 51-year-old man they say burned a Pomona woman to death by dousing her with gasoline and setting her on fire.

Forty-one-year-old Dawn Hensley was engulfed in flames as she collapsed on a street outside of a home Friday afternoon. Neighbors tried to help her but she died at a hospital.

Police say it appears a domestic dispute turned violent and a suspect identified as Clarence Dear chased the woman out of their home. Authorities say he apparently poured gas on her and set her on fire, possibly using a lit cigarette.

Dear ran off. Police say he’s considered dangerous and they’re asking the public’s help in finding him.
