New cyber institute seeks to train IT professionals to increase cyber security

PINCKNEY, Mich. – A new school is opening in Mid-Michigan that is aiming to increase the number of cyber-security experts in the state.

The Pinckney Cyber Training Institute and Sentinel Center will open Wednesday with a VIP reception and tour.

The Institute is being billed as the first of its kind in the nation, and will train IT professionals, college students, and high school students on how to detect and defend against cyber attacks.

It will also provide an isolated internet system where companies can work on new online products with the risk of being hacked.

The Institute is located inside Pinckney High School.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
