Forum in Owosso seeks public input on wind turbine project

OWOSSO, Mich. – The Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership is hosting an informational forum Wednesday to discuss wind power in Michigan.

A Virginia power company wants to install 60 turbines in four Michigan townships within Shiawassee and Lenawee Counties.

Tonight’s forum is meant to inform residents about wind turbines and hear their concerns.

It will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the D’Mar Banquet Center in Owosso.

Much of Michigan is well-suited for wind turbines, which produce power without the pollution of fossil fuels, however, opponents call them an eyesore that lowers property values and generates noise and lights.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
