BWL asks for public opinions on substation design

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Do you have an opinion about how the proposed Lansing Board of Water and Light substation should look?

Designers want to hear from you tonight at a 6:00 p.m. meeting set for the REO Depot at 1201 S. Washington Avenue.

The Central Substation is to be built at the southwest corner of West Malcolm X Street and South Washington Avenue.

Tonight’s “design charrette” will provide ideas for exterior finishes and appearance of the future substation.

This is the first of three design charrettes that could continue until January 23 if needed.

BWL General Manager Dick Peffley says he wants the public to help decide the story that is told on the walls of the building.

Architects and designers will lead the discussion at tonight’s meeting.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
