Trump reps file objection; recount stalled

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The recount of last month’s Michigan presidential election vote is on hold for now.

The Michigan Bureau of Elections has received an objection from representatives of Donald Trump to the recount requested yesterday by Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

In accordance with Michigan law, the recount must stop until the Board of State Canvassers settles the issue.

Even though the board has five days to resolve the objection, members will meet tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing.

The board is also scheduled to meet at noon on Saturday in room 426 of the State Capitol.

If the objection is not adopted then the recount can continue after the second business day following the board’s decision.

If the objection is adopted then the recount ends immediately.

Recounts were to begin Friday in Ingham and Oakland counties on Friday.
