SAD NEWS: Family loses two dogs, other pets in house fire

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WLNS) – 6 News has some sad news to pass along to you, as a family in Meridian Township is mourning the loss of multiple pets after a fire tore through their home Thursday night.

It happened just before 8 p.m. First responders were called to a home in the 4800 block of Grand View Avenue, which is just south of Grand River.

According to fire officials, the family had just come home to find out their house was on fire.

Multiple fire crews were called to the scene, working to put out the flames.

Investigators say, the fire started on the first floor and spread to the second floor.

While officials are still working to determine a cause, firefighters confirmed two dogs were killed in the fire, while multiple cats were unaccounted for.
