Meridian Township man arrested for abusing dog

MERIDIAN TWP., Mich (WLNS) – One man is free on bond tonight and his dog is recovering from a broken leg.

Meridian Township Police were called to the 4900 block of Hannah Boulevard last Tuesday when they received reports that a man was seen beating a dog.

When they arrived officers found residents of the apartment building caring for the injured Donuts, a dog owned by the suspect.

Donuts was rushed to the MSU Veterinary Clinic for treatment and was then taken to the Ingham County Animal Control Shelter.

23-year-old Zihao Li of East Lansing was arrested and a second dog was taken from his residence.

Li was arraigned Wednesday on two counts of Animal Cruelty and Attempted Animal Cruelty.

He was released on bond and will be back in court tomorrow.
