JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – Today a staple of downtown Jackson for more than 60 years announced that it is closing.
The “Toy House”, a toy store in downtown Jackson, plans to close on Christmas Eve.
The store’s owner says they’re closing after 67 years in business for financial reasons.
He says it’s hard to keep an independent toy store open amid changes in the toy industry and increased competition.
It was an emotional decision but the owner says now is the right time to close the store.
“A lot of customers have been reaching out to us and are saddened by the news,” says owner Phil Wrzesinski. “And it’s tough. And we get that. We’re going to be sad with them, but we’re all going to get through it. We’ll figure out a way to move on from this and hopefully we’ll remember and cherish those memories, and keep that in our minds for the future.”
A going out of business sale starts on Black Friday.
All items in the store will be 20 percent off.
