UPDATE: Police investigate fatal shooting; one man dead

UPDATE 9:55 a.m. – Lansing Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the city last night.

27-year-old Matthew Smoke of Lansing was outside a business on the 3000 block of South Washington when, police say, he was shot.

He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Investigating officers say Smoke was approached by an armed suspect just before 7:00 p.m. Monday night.

The suspect ran away and a K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect but could not locate the gunman.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’9” in height, 260 lbs. in weight, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)- Lansing police say a 27-year-old man has died after he was shot in the 3000 block of South Washington Ave.

Police were called to the area just before 7:00 p.m. Monday night, where they found the victim on scene.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Police say they are still investigating the area and have no suspects in custody.
