What should you do if you’re one of the 400,000 people who could be affected by hackers who took personal information from MSU?

First, know that MSU will not contact you asking for sensitive data.

MSU is offering 2 years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring

To sign up for it:

  • Call 855-231-9331
  • Visit https://msu.allclearid.com

You can sign up for the protection through November of 2018.

MSU says you can also consider a fraud alert or a credit freeze.

How do I know if I’m affected?

  • Call 855-231-9331
  • You should also respond right away to any letters from the IRS, as they may be related to tax identity theft

What kind of information is at risk?

  • Your name, Social Security number, MSU ID numbers, and possibly your date of birth
  • Passwords, academic information, and health information are NOT at risk

How do I know if any e-mails or information about this is legit?

What if I think I’m a victim of identity theft?
