EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – If you’ve been looking to downsize your life a little bit, Sparty has just the thing for you.
The tiny house “Sparty’s Cabin” is being auctioned through the MSU Surplus auction website.
So what is Sparty’s Cabin?
It’s a 177 square foot space that sleeps three, has an upstairs (sleeping loft and storage) and a downstairs with a great room/kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
All in 177 square feet.
The house is built on a trailer for easy transportation.
It has all the traditional sewer, water and electricity but can be retrofitted to go totally off the grid with solar panels, rainwater collection and adding a composting toilet.
The tiny house was built by the MSU student chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
The project was used to educate the students and community about the popular tiny house movement.
People who embrace that lifestyle are more into filling their lives with experiences and not possessions.
The house was built using recycled MSU lumber from the MSU Sustainable Wood Recovery Program and the Shadows Collection.
You can tour Sparty’s Cabin at the front lawn of Morrill Hall of Agriculture on West Circle Drive this Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
