Ingham County Sheriff reminds hunters to stay safe while hunting

MASON, Mich. – November 15 marks the beginning of firearm deer season in Michigan, the Ingham County Sheriff’s office would like people to remain safe while hunting.

Officials say that, in order to prevent hazardous situations, people should not hunt alone.

Hunters should always alert someone where they will be going.

Everyone should dress for the weather, as well as wear high-visibility hunter’s orange.

All equipment should be checked to make sure it is in good repair, and firearms should always be treated as if they are loaded.

Hunting should never be done under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Lastly, hunters should keep their emotions in check, regardless of whether they bag a buck or one gets away.
