Does Michigan’s flag need a new look?

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Should the state flag of Michigan get a makeover?

A state senator has begun the process to do just that.

Democratic state Senator Steven Bieda of Warren introduced the bill earlier this week.

In his bill he proposes creating a flag commission which would control a state flag design contest.

Admissions for new designs would be accepted between January 26, 2018 and July 26, 2018.

If a new flag is accepted then the current flag design would stay in effect until December 31, 2018 with the new flag flying January 1, 2019.
