(WLNS) – 6 Sports Player of The Week night and our selection this week earned this nod with his football success and a memorable game in particular last Saturday.
A young man who has had to fight through injuries this season but is now healthy and is helping his team fight through the playoff brackets.
We congratulate 6 Sports Prep Player of the Week Logan Hengesbach of the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates.
Senior safety Logan Hengesbach who missed several games this season with an injury.
But now, when the PW Pirates really need him, he is healthy and making quite a contribution.
Never was it more significant than last Saturday.
Hengesbach scored two touchdowns and produced a game-saving interception to help lead the Pirates to a 25-19 playoff victory over unbeaten Saugatuck.
What a weapon to have back for the unbeaten Pirates.
And his coach appreciates the talent. “I’m not surprised. The fact that he was on the receiving end of those two throws was pretty remarkable. That one catch was phenomenal. So he does a great job for us and, like you said, it’s great to have him healthy.”
“I know Coach Miller tells us to be a different person once you put the helmet on so you just gotta make plays out there, be somebody different than you are without the helmet on,” says Hengesbach.
