Trump’s plans for country: what do these changes mean?

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The results of the presidential election left Hillary Clinton supporters speechless and fellow Trump supporters thrilled.

With Trump’s plans for immigration and healthcare in the country, the question is what do these changes mean for the country?

After a hard-fought presidential race, Republicans and Democrats are flabbergasted by America’s president-elect.

“I’m glad, I wanted a change,” Holt local Rosemary Yemc mentioned.

“I’m extremely happy that Trump won,” said Sue Usiak, resident in Okemos.

“I’m afraid of some of his ideas,” Portland local Kelly Grys said.

“It seems like the internal modeling of both campaigns expected a Hillary Clinton victory,” local Michigan State University Political Scientist Matt Grossmann stated.

Since the beginning of his campaign, Donald Trump’s plans to “make America great again” have raised concerns from both political parties.

And now that he’s elected, how will these ideas including immigration come into play?

“I think you will see increases in deportation and increases in border enforcement,” said Grossmann.

He says although Republicans will have full reign in the U.S. House and Senate, that doesn’t mean they will back all of Trump’s plans.

“Once we start getting into immigration reform, once we start getting into tax policy then we’re going to see a very divided country and a divided Congress right away,” Grossmann added.

He says it will be interesting to see how much Trump is able to achieve with his ideas involving healthcare as well.

“I think it will be difficult to come up with a plan that gets majority support in Congress that eliminates healthcare coverage for the 20 million people who have received it under Obamacare,” said Grossmann.

Grossmann believes only time will tell when Trump starts his administration.

“It will be interesting to see how much he tries to achieve and is able to achieve,” Grossmann stated.
