WATCH: Newest class of Michigan State Police troopers graduate

DIMONDALE, Mich (WLNS) – 58 men and women have joined the ranks of the Michigan State Police as the 130th Trooper Recruit School held its graduation today.

6 News photojournalist Blair Nelson was there and he’s here for you with a look at today’s ceremony.

Recruit school graduate Dennis Meek said “today marks not the end of our journey but the beginning of an exciting career with the Michigan State Police. This is a day of celebration and to be proud of this outstanding achievement because we hop to share the next few decades of their lives in terms of partnership in terms of keeping Michigan citizens safe.”

“We proudly wear the uniform. Blue diamonds on the road.”

“Policing is so much more than just about enforcing the law,” said Col. Kriste Kibbey. “It’s also to attention to those who break the law but the job is also very important to provide service to those law abiding citizens who choose never to break the law. And throughout your career you’ll be ge given the dilemma of deciding yes or no that single decision may not seem important but realize it can last a lifetime.”

“Ten hut! Yes, Sir”

And with that the next group of Michigan State Police troopers begin their service.
