HOLT, Mich (WLNS) – The Holt School community is reaching out to support the family of the girl who died in a murder-arson earlier this week.

Tuesday night five-year-old Luna Younger was stabbed to death in the Old Orchard Apartment complex in Delhi Township near Holt.

Her stepfather, 25-year-old Thomas McClellan, has been arrested and charged with Open Murder, Child Abuse and Arson in connection with the death.

Now the Holt Schools are collecting donations to support Victoria McClellan, the child’s mother.

School officials remember Luna as a child who “loved recess, lunch and math”.

They said she was a bright student who learned her alphabet from her mother at the age of three.

There are a number of options for making donations.

Gift cards and monetary support can be sent to:

Donations can also be made online here.

A penny collection will occur at each elementary school during November. Students can bring in coins that will be collected to purchase a playground bench as a memorial for Luna.
