(WLNS) – This is 6 Sports Player of The Week night and this week’s crowned recipient is well deserving of the hardware.
An athlete who’s in his first season with the Williamston hornets and already making quite the noise on the gridiron.
Last week he lead his team to a huge 43-24 victory over Haslett dominating on both sides of the ball.
Let’s do the honors, shall we?
We’d like to congratulate our 6 Sports Player of The Week: Sy Barnett.
He’s a senior wide-out for the Williamston Hornets and a guy who has been quite the weapon.
Just last week alone he had 11 receptions for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Hornets to a 43-24 win over Haslett.
Oh, and did I mention, this is his first season with the Hornets after transferring from Charlotte last year?
His new head coach, Steve Kersten, is certainly not complaining about his new addition to the team.
“He’s a freak athlete. He’s a great player and we’ve worked hard to get the ball in his hands,” said coach Kersten. “We did a better job of it last week than we had earlier in the season so it’s kinda what we do every year. Find the play-makers, get the ball in their hands and he’s definitely made plays when he had the ball.”
“Well, when Jackson throws those beautiful spiral balls to me I always just love jumping up catching them,” says Barnett. “Once I catch them, if I’m not tackled by then, I usually just see what I can do to get in the endzone.”
