MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP (WLNS) – Talks about the controversial CATA Bus Rapid Transit project will continue tonight at the Meridian Township Board meeting.
At tonight’s meeting, trustees are revisiting the issue.
Several months ago, The Board of Trustees approved a resolution that opposes the project in it’s current plan.
In July, officials amended that resolution to say that CATA had until this month to come up with changes to that plan, so that everyone can come to a consensus.
Dozens of people were in attendance at the July meeting, where sparks were flying over whether or not the project is needed.
For months now, different organizations including Michigan State University, the Lansing Chamber of Commerce, and the public have been raising questions and concerns regarding the project’s current plan.
CATA officials went back to the drawing board and came up with five different ideas or concepts that would modify it.
A couple weeks ago, CATA hosted three meetings to introduce those concepts to the public.
The BRT project is an action item tonight, officials said it’s unclear whether or not there will be action taken on this.
6 News will be at the meeting and have details tonight on 6 News at 11.
