Arrest made in Eaton County strong arm robbery and car theft attempt

EATON CO., Mich (WLNS) – A Benton Harbor man is in custody and Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich says the man is tied to two crimes in less than 12 hours.

The 32-year-old suspect was arrested just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday when he tried to steal a vehicle in the 4800 block of S. Waverly Road.

Deputies say they arrived on the scene to find the owner of the vehicle had been hit with a liquor bottle by the suspect and the two were fighting.

The suspect was arrested and then discovered the man was also involved in an early afternoon purse snatching in the same area.

In that case the suspect walked up to the victim and ripped the purse off her arm.

The 22-year-old Lansing woman was not injured.

The suspect is now in the Eaton County Jail and could face multiple felony charges.
