Okemos auto dealer license suspended by MI Secretary of State

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has suspended the license of an auto dealership in Okemos after the dealer turned down the department’s request to inspect their records.

They wanted to look at the inventory and sales records of HJ Auto Group on Grand River Avenue in Okemos as required by state law.

Those laws protect against the sale of stolen vehicles and parts and make sure the vehicle buyer receives a clear and valid title.

“We take our responsibility to safeguard consumers from unscrupulous auto dealers seriously,” Johnson said.

Johnson has created the Office of Investigative Services which is charged with investigating and inspecting automotive-related businesses.

If you have a complaint against HJ Auto Group call the office of investigative services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
