(WLNS) – A former Michigan Democratic Party chair petitioned the Ingham County Circuit court to look into Governor Rick Snyder’s use of taxpayer dollars to pay for his legal defense regarding the Flint Water Crisis.
Current Goodman Acker attorney Mark Brewer, along with complainant Keri Webber have scheduled a news conference for this morning to announce pending legal action against Governor Snyder.
Brewer is asking for a one person Grand Jury to look into state funding when it comes to Snyder’s legal defense.
In March 2016, the state Administrative Board approved $1.2 million in state funding to provide criminal and civil funding for legal advice in connection to the Flint Water Crisis.
Progress Michigan also raised issue with the funding, bringing thousands of petition signatures and a formal complaint to Secretary Ruth Johnson ahead of the decision.
The complaint was rejected, and the contracts were approved.
A news conference scheduled for Wednesday morning will bring more details.
