With four goals in his last four matches, three of which turned out to be game winner’s, MSU sophomore forward Ryan Sierakowski has been on fire as of late.
“I think it’s just confidence” said Sierakowski to 6 Sports. “Last year I think I chased the goals, I kinda forced ‘em, and this year I’m more confident they are going to come, the chances are going to come and when they do, my main focus is finish them.”
MSU is on a hot run of form too, unbeaten in its last four games, Sierakowski’s performances have been key, and have drawn high praise from his coach.
“Well I think he was capable of it” said MSU Soccer coach Damon Rensing. “You never you know assume that they’re gonna come in and start lighting up the scoreboard but uh you know last I thought he kind of you know hoped to score goals and this year he comes in believing with the confidence to score goals.”
With only six games left in the regular season, followed by what MSU hopes to be a solid postseason run, the only question is, can Sierakowski keep finding the back of the net?
“For me personally, just focusing on little details in training, staying sharp and when getting out to the game, being confident and trusting in that preparation.”
Regardless of his personal success, Sierakowski hopes MSU’s excellent season goes on as long as possible.
“It’s awesome, I mean it’s a completely different season from last season um, I mean last year we had similar games but we would lose. We’re fighting, we’re showing great character and we’re ready to just keep it going.”
