LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – How much room should cyclists have on the road?
What about pedestrians on the shoulder?
Reportedly, not enough drivers can answer these questions, which is why the Michigan Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Action Plan from 2013 recommended increasing the curriculum for driver’s education to include more information about pedestrians and cyclists.
The plan calls for the State of Michigan to continue to recognize the importance of safe pedestrian and bicycle travel.
The plan’s original 2013 goals included reducing pedestrian and bicycle crashes by 16%.
However, this would add hours to classes and increase total cost.
