UPDATE: Sex charges brought against Leslie High coach/teacher


LESLIE, Mich (WLNS) – Ingham County Prosecutor Gretchen Whitmer is bringing charges against a 47-year-old Leslie High School teacher/coach.

Whitmer, joined by Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth, announced that four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor have been filed against David Hovarter.

Investigators say the victim was between 13 and 15 years old.

According to investigators he has been the coach of the Leslie High School girls cross-country teams.

Hovarter now lives in Marshall.

There are two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct-1st Degree and two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct-2nd Degree.

The maximum penalty for a conviction on the two first-degree charges in life in prison.
