Police arrest suspects in shooting of 71-year-old man

The Ingham County prosecutor has charged two suspects in connection with the shooting of a 71-year-old man yesterday.

Eighteen-year-old Geordan Lee Artis and 17-year-old Guillermo Macario Villanueva – both from Lansing – each face 5 counts after the shooting along the 4700 block of Christiansen.

Artis faces four felonies, including:

  • Assault with intent to murder
  • Discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle causing injury
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Felony firearms

He also faces a misdemeanor count of a second offense for domestic violence.

  • Discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle causing injury
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Felony firearms

Police caught the suspects shortly after the shooting.

A judge set bonds for both suspects at $250,000.

Both will be back in court in the next few weeks as they work their way through the legal system.

The 71-year-old man was hit and taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.
