Clinton Co: Woman, man arraigned on child porn, sex abuse charges tied back to August arrest

ST. JOHNS, Mich (WLNS) – A man and a woman have been charged with a number of counts of child pornography and sexual assault that investigators trace back to an earlier arrest.

50-year-old Carol Boak (seen on the left) of St. Johns and 43-year-old Kenneth Thelen (pictured in middle) of Westphalia were arraigned today in Clinton County Circuit Court.

Boak is charged with child abusive commercial activity, possession of child sexual abusive material, distributing or promoting child abusive commercial activity, 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct with a person younger than 13 and sodomy.

Thelen is charged with child abusive commercial activity and 2 counts of possession of child sexual abusive material.

Boak and Thelen became the focus of an investigation after the arrest in August of 52-year-old Terry Plowman (pictured right) of St. Johns. Sexually abusive pictures of children were found on Plowman’s phone and he was charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct-2nd Degree and other Child Sexually Abusive crimes.

Investigators found that photos from Plowman’s phone were sent to Boak’s and Thelen’s phones. When police looked through those phones they found evidence of other child sexual abuse.

The three are currently held in the Clinton County Jail.
