More revealed on “mystery movie” in Mason

MASON, Mich (WLNS) – There is more light being shed on the “mystery movie” that was shooting scenes in Mason this week.

6 News has learned that the film is being directed by an Academy Award winner.

According to the well-known website IMDB (Internet Movie Database) the film, known as “untitled Detroit project”, is being directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

She is the first woman director to win an Academy Award for the 2010 film “The Hurt Locker”.

This film is focusing on the Detroit riots in the 1960s.

IMDB lists John Krasinski, known as Jim Halpert in “The Office”, in one of the leading roles.

John Boyega, best known as the renegade Stormtrooper in the latest Star Wars film, is also one of the stars.

Hannah Murray, “Game of Thrones” fans will recognize her as Gilly, is one of the female stars of the film

This is not the first time Hollywood has come to Mason.

In 2010 Hugh Jackman was in the Ingham County courthouse shooting scenes for another Hollywood production.
