EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – The bottom line warning from both the East Lansing Police and Michigan State University Police is this: Be aware.
That call for caution is in the wake of recent reports of strong armed robberies in the late evening and early morning hours.
Most recently the attacks have been between midnight and 2:00 a.m. when groups of young males target individuals who are walking alone or with one other person.
The robbers take wallets, cell phones and other valuables and, in come cases, assault the victims.
Police recommend that people be aware of their surroundings and limit distractions, such as talking on a cell phone.
They also recommend traveling in large groups or using cabs or public transportation.
