MASON, Mich (WLNS) – The search is on for a missing Ingham County woman with a troubled past.
According to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, this past Saturday Ruth Smith posted a note on Facebook saying she was being held against her will.
Her last known address was on Bishop Road in Delhi Township.
The woman has a history of bipolar disorder and, according to the Sheriff’s Office, has had delusions.
In February of last year the woman was arrested in the Toledo area after she tried to suffocate her 7-month-old daughter.
The child survived and was returned to the father when Smith was taken into custody.
At that time Smith, who called police to report what she had done, claimed she would rather kill the child than let her husband have custody.
She had been staying at Eve’s House in Lansing but no longer resides there.
Smith is 35 years old and approximately 5ft 5in tall.
