More than 40 gallons of crude oil & brine leak into field in Onondaga Twp.

ONONDAGA TWP, MI (WLNS) – Officials from the Ingham County Homeland Security and Emergency Management were busy in Onondaga Township Sunday night, where they were working to clean up more than 40 gallons of crude oil and brine.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Kinneville and Stone roads. According to officials, a line from an oil pump owned by Omimex Energy failed, causing approximately 42 gallons of crude oil and brine to leak in a nearby corn field.

Officials from several state and local offices like the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality are aware of the leak and will re-visit the area on Monday to make sure the leak was cleaned properly.
