LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Less than one percent of adults in the United States and almost no children are in ideal cardiovascular health.
That’s according to the American Heart Association.
And that’s why the organization puts on hundreds of “walks” around the country to raise awareness, and funds, to fight heart disease.
One such walk is taking place this Saturday at Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing.
Participants have the option of walking around the stadium or joining others for a 2-and-a-half mile walk around the Lansing River Trail.
Gates open at 8:30 Saturday morning.
The program starts at 9:15 and the walk takes off at 9:30 a.m.
In addition to the walk there will also be mascots, live music, CPR demonstrations, healthy snacks, information on how to prevent heart disease, and tips for healthy habits at home.
Organizers say the walk is free but you’re encouraged to fundraise.
