3 escape flames as fire damages Lansing apartment

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Flames lit up the sky southwest of downtown Lansing this morning.

Fire investigators are working today to figure out what caused an early morning apartment fire that broke out around 6:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Bayview Drive just west of Waverly Road.

Crews found one apartment unit was on fire.

The three people living in that unit, along with the others in the building, were able to get out safely.

Those three people need to find a place to live while investigators are working to figure out a cause and if the building had any other structural damage.
