CHARLOTTE, Mich (WLNS) – The son of an Eaton County Sheriff’s candidate is headed to a juvenile detention center this afternoon after giving up his bond.
14-year-old Brodrick McPhail had been free on $25,000 bond and today he was court to face accusations he violated a Personal Protection Order.
McPhail is facing one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct-1st degree, child sexually abusive activity and child sexual activity distribution involving a child under 13.
He voluntarily gave up his bond during an appearance in Eaton County District Court. At the same court appearance prosecutors dropped the PPO violation.
Fred McPhail, Brodrick’s father and current candidate for sheriff, tells 6 News that they made the decision to move his son to go to the detention center was to avoid bullying the teen faced at school.
15-year-old boy Hunter Chance of Ludington was arrested with McPhail and faces the same charges.
McPhail will be back in court October 31st.
