East Lansing police officers had their hands full early Friday morning chasing down suspects in a series of car break-ins.
Police say they were paying special attention to an area in the north-west part of the city where thieves had stole things from a bunch of cars over the past week.
While on patrol, police noticed several young people in the area – and when they tried to talk to the kids, officers say they jumped into two different cars and took off.
That prompted police to try and pull the cars over, but they say both cars refused to stop, prompting officers to chase them down.
One chase ended at Cedar Street and I-96 and the other ended near the intersection of Waverly and Lansing roads.
At the end of those chases, police say five of the seven people in the two cars made a break for it and got away…for now.
But police say one girls remained in each car and helped identify the other suspects. Those two girls have been released to their parents, and police are working to track the other people down.
