Police seek witnesses after car hits bicyclists

Meridian Township police say they’re looking for anyone who saw an accident between a car and some people out riding bikes.

It happened around 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Marsh Road and Times Square Drive.

Police say a car turning south onto Marsh Road hit three people on their bikes: a 48-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, and a child. The man and the woman were hurt and taken to Sparrow hospital with what they describe as “significant” injuries. The child was not hurt. None of the three were wearing helmets.

Police also say the cyclists were in the crosswalk when the car hit them.

Investigators say they know who the driver is, but they’re still investigating. They’re looking for anyone who saw the accident to get in touch with them at 517-483-4800. Witnesses can also leave an messages on their social websites or anonymous tip.
