One man sentenced, one wanted in connection to multimillion dollar drug bust

Police are looking for Raymundo Perea

(Grand Rapids) — A fourth person has been sentenced in connection to a multimillion dollar drug ring that ran right through Lansing, but authorities aren’t ready to close the books on this case just yet.

Carlos Ramirez-Zuniga was sentenced to 70 months imprisonment for his involvement in a marijuana and cocaine trafficking scheme.

Lansing Police along with Homeland Security Investigators broke up the crime ring in 2014.

Officials learned Merced Alvarado, Jonathan Galvan, Elva Medrano and Ramirez-Zuniga were involved in a smuggling ring that funneled drugs from Mission, Texas to Lansing, Michigan to be sold in surrounding states.

The traffickers transported the drugs and money in hallowed out drink coolers, and stashed them in a Lansing home.

Federal investigators are now looking for Raymundo Perea, a known drug courier. Perea, pictured above, was last seen in Mission, Texas.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Homeland Security Investigations Office at (313) 226-0533.
