Fugitive Arrested in Lansing

Lansing, Mich (WLNS)  Lansing police say they captured Charles Lewis, Jr. this morning nearly two weeks after he walked away from a Macomb County detention center.

Police say they found Lewis at “a residence in the South Lansing area” after developing leads and obtaining information as to his location.

Lewis was convicted of the 2010 murder of Shayla Johnson in Lansing.

Lansing police say when they found Lewis this morning he was arrested without incident and taken to the Ingham County Jail.

Lansing Police, Michigan State University, Michigan State Police, Bath Township, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Department, East Lansing police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms all worked in finding Lewis.
