UPDATE Thursday 11:30 a.m. – The request for a personal protection order filed by the estranged wife of the Eaton County Sheriff against her husband has been denied.
Shiawassee County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Stewart denied the petition filed by Brenda Cleeves-Reich against Sheriff Tom Reich.
The couple are in the process of divorcing. Details of why Cleeves-Reich sought the PPO have not been released.
The PPO was being reviewed in Shiawassee County to avoid possible conflicts of interest.
Meanwhile, the 15-year-old son of the man running against Reich was set to be in court today to face criminal sexual conduct charges.
Prosecutors say Brody McPhail and another teen sexually abused a child under the age of 13.
The teen-ager is being charged as an adult.
We learned today’s hearing was postponed. We’ll keep you updated as the court proceedings develop.
LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – A personal protection order petition has been filed against Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich.
The petition was filed by Brenda Cleeves-Reich yesterday in Eaton County.
According to the Eaton County Clerk’s office the couple are in the midst of a divorce.
The protection order petition is now on the judge’s desk for review.
Sheriff Reich is up for re-election in November and is facing Republican Fred McPhail.
If that name sounds familiar it might be because McPhail’s son was charged with criminal sexual conduct last month.
This is a developing story and will be updated online and on 6 News.
