JACKSON, Mich. (AP) – Parks in Jackson will close earlier than usual to help deal with complaints about issues including noise.

Our media partners at The Jackson Citizen Patriot and MLive report new rules approved this week mean all parks will be open from dawn to dusk, similar to parks in Jackson County and other area municipalities, instead of 10 p.m. The change goes into effect in early October.

Previously, all parks besides Ella Sharp Park were open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Ella Sharp Park previously opened at 5 a.m.

Police will be able to decide whether to cite people who are in the parks after dusk. The aim is to cut down on problems.

We welcome thoughts and comments from our viewers. We ask that everyone keep their remarks civil and respectful. Postings that contain profanity, racist, or potentially libelous remarks will be deleted. We will delete any commercial postings, as well.
