Local restaurant delivers food to First Responders on Labor Day

OKEMOS, Mich – Olive Garden restaurants across the country are honoring those who serve with a special lunch today.

Here in mid-Michigan workers from the Olive Garden restaurant in Okemos delivered lunch to the Meridian Township fire department central station.

Organizers say it’s a way to say “thank you” to first responders for their ongoing, dedicated service to the community.

“It’s nice that they honor police and firefighters that are on duty knowing that we aren’t able to have our Labor Day off,” said Capt. Bill Richardson. “This is a 24-7 operation. That we are going to be honored by Olive Garden is very nice.”

This is the fifteenth year of the Labor Day lunch deliveries.
