Police: Jackson shooting tied to massive fights

JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – We know much more today about how a 15-old Jackson boy was shot in the face.

Police say it all started yesterday afternoon at a local high school where several groups of teens got into a fight.

That fight moved to the Martin Luther King Junior Recreation Center on Adriane Street.

Police say 5 to 6 groups of teens were fighting and when staff members split everyone up the fight moved several blocks away where police were called and the 30 kids eventually ran away.

No one was hurt until several hours later when officers were called out again this time to the 1100 block of Adriane Street for reports of a shooting.

That’s where police say they found the wounded 15-year-old.

As of right now police haven’t arrested anyone and they’re busy interviewing witnesses and following-up on leads.

Police say they’re getting conflicting accounts of what happened so if you have information on what happened yesterday call Jackson Police Detective Holly Rose at 517-768-8724.
