1 arrest after shooting at Lansing Township motel

LANSING TWP., Mich (WLNS) – What started with a report of gunshots ended with an arrest late Thursday in Lansing Township.

Lansing Township Police tell 6 News that officers were called to the Burkewood Inn on the 3200 block of West Main Street just after 11:00 p.m.

When they arrived they found the parking lot appeared empty.

Officers were directed to another part of the lot where two men were found.

When the men were told to lie on the ground only man did so.

Police officials say the second man began aggressively approaching the officers.

When he continued to ignore commands from the officer he was tazed and brought to the ground.

A search found a jacket that had been taken off by one of the men.

A handgun was found in the jacket and it is believed that gun was used in the shooting.

No one was injured in the shooting and a 34-year-old Charlotte man is in custody at the Ingham County Sheriff Department.
