Haslett schools locked down during police search in area

HASLETT, Mich (WLNS) – A hit and run accident led to a short lockdown of schools in Haslett this afternoon.

6 News is told that police sealed off an area near Haslett and Marsh Roads just after noon.

Police were searching for a man in connection with a hit and run crash.

Officers were told a man ran from the crash and was carrying a handgun.

Police describe the man as white, in his 20s and wearing a yellow shirt.

Meridian Township, Michigan State University Police and East Lansing Police searched for the suspect but did not find him.

The investigation is continuing and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
