Mobile health clinic hits the road

LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Just in time for the new school year Lansing’s Sparrow Hospital is teaming up with the Ingham County Health Department and Dean Transportation to roll out the Lansing area’s only mobile health clinic.

The clinic has the ability to go anywhere to offer free basic health care like immunizations, screenings and other services.

Officials say the clinic has the ability to fill a vital need in the community.

“It’s a way that we can address some of the barriers to access to care for people in our community and by doing that we can decrease healthcare disparities by delivering care more effectively and at a lower cost,” said Ted Glynn, VP of Medical Education and Research at Sparrow.

In its first stop last week officials say a surprisingly large number of people used the mobile clinic, including children who had never been immunized.
