East Lansing man charged in campus armed attack

EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – An East Lansing man faces two felony charges in connection with an assault on the Michigan State University campus Wednesday night.

20-year-old Torey Childress has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and felonious assault with a dangerous weapon.

MSU Police tell 6 News that Childress is accused of assaulting a MSU student near North Case Hall at Abbot and West Grand River just before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

The concealed weapon charge is a 5-year felony and the assault charge is a 4-year felony.

Childress has no affiliation with the university and was released on a $5000 personal recognizance bond.

He’s scheduled to be back in court on September 2nd.
