CATA hosts BRT information meetings in Meridian Township

OKEMOS, Mich (WLNS) – The second of two informational meetings focusing on the controversial Bus Rapid Transit CATA plan is scheduled for tonight.

The first meeting began today at 3:30 p.m. and concluded at 5:00 p.m.

A 6 News crew was in the meeting and reports the room was filled with people, many angry at the CATA proposal.

The meetings are intended to gather comments and answer questions from the public.

The second meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Meridian Township Central Fire Station Apparatus Room at 5000 Okemos Road in Okemos.

The BRT plan has drawn increased opposition in recent months.

According to the proposed plan a bus-only lane would be constructed on Michigan Avenue from downtown Lansing and connecting with Grand River Avenue through East Lansing, ending at the Meridian Mall in Meridian Township.
