(WLNS) – Looking for some fun this weekend? There are festivals and events happening all over mid-Michigan.
No matter what you like to do for fun there’s sure to be a festival or a fair this weekend that you won’t want to miss.
Starting with the “Great Lakes Folk Festival“, a celebration of global culture will take over East Lansing, starting tonight through Sunday.
All the traditional music and dances that you love will be back but brand new this year is the “jam tent” where you’re invited to listen, learn and participate in pop-up jam sessions.
Street closures for the festival are already in place on Albert Avenue, Abbot Road, MAC and Grove Street in the downtown area.
Some nearby parking lots are also closed to make room.
All those roads and surface lots should re-open by 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Next up is the 32nd annual St. Johns “Mint Festival“.
You, your family, and friends are invited out to celebrate the rich history of mint farming in St. Johns.
The festival officially starts today featuring carnival rides that open at 2:00 p.m.
Today is also “Senior Citizen Day”.
The “Grand Mint Parade” steps off tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m.
Other events you’ll want to consider are the Jackson and Shiawassee County Fairs.
Both of those will be wrapping up this weekend with monster trucks and demolitions derbies as the main shows.
If movies are more your style tonight you’re invited to a movie night on the State Capitol lawn in downtown Lansing.
The film “Inside out” will be shown starting at dusk.
