LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Who would abandon an 8-week-old puppy in an overheated dumpster?
That’s the question Ingham County Animal Control officers are asking today after they found a pup Thursday morning in a trash bin behind an apartment building in south Lansing.
Officer Sarah Schertel was called to the address near Jolly Road and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd just before 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
When she arrived she found an 8-week-old puppy inside the hot dumpster.
“It was very hot inside the dumpster and the puppy was overheated,” said Officer Schertel. “He drank lots of water once he was at the shelter. He’s doing well now and so far health test are coming back with good results.”
The puppy is not available for adoption now due to the ongoing investigation. There is a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of of the person or persons responsible for abandoning the puppy.
