Jackson Co. man charged with burning girlfriend’s house down

JACKSON CO., Mich (WLNS) – There is an update on a house fire in Jackson County that prosecutors say was set on purpose.

48-year-old Jeffery Gibbs is facing second degree arson charges after officials say he burned down his girlfriend’s home in Hanover Township.

Police say Gibbs got into an argument with her and said he was going to set the house on fire.

Officials believe Gibbs poured gas on the home before they say he set the blaze.

He’s now being held on a $250 million dollar bond.

Gibbs faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
